SMS/Messaging Terms

These SMS/Messaging Terms ("SMS Terms") describe the text messaging program operated by Kaku ("we," "our," or "us") as part of the Kaku Event Coordination service. By using the Kaku app and its SMS features, you agree to these SMS Terms.

1. Program Name

Kaku Event Coordination

Kaku sends automated text messages to help coordinate group events such as brunches, dinners, movie nights, hiking trips, and other social gatherings.

2. What Messages You Will Receive

If You Are a Kaku User (App User)

As a Kaku app user, you may receive text messages related to:

Account verification and authentication
Plan status updates and confirmations
Service notifications

If You Are a Friend Being Coordinated With

If a Kaku user adds you as a friend and initiates event coordination, you may receive text messages that:

Introduce the event being planned and who invited you
Ask about your availability for proposed dates or times
Ask about your preferences (e.g., restaurant choices, activity options)
Confirm finalized event details
Provide updates if plans change

These messages are sent by an AI assistant on behalf of the Kaku user who is coordinating the event.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your event coordination activity. During active event planning, you may receive multiple messages as the AI assistant gathers availability and preferences. Outside of active coordination, you will not receive messages.

Typical message frequency:

Kaku users: 1-5 messages per week, depending on plans being coordinated
Friends being coordinated with: 2-10 messages per coordination event

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates from your wireless carrier apply to all messages sent to and from Kaku. Contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.

5. Opt-Out Instructions

You can stop receiving text messages from Kaku at any time.

To opt out, reply STOP to any message from Kaku. You will receive a one-time confirmation that you have been unsubscribed.

After opting out:

You will no longer receive SMS messages from Kaku
The Kaku user coordinating with you will be notified that you have opted out of SMS communication
You can opt back in at any time by replying START to the Kaku number

Kaku SMS messaging is supported on all major U.S. carriers, including but not limited to:

Boost Mobile
Metro by T-Mobile
Google Fi
Mint Mobile

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Privacy and Data Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.

All information collected through our SMS messaging program, including phone numbers, message content, and opt-in/opt-out status, is used exclusively for the purpose of providing the Kaku event coordination service. We do not sell, rent, or share this information for marketing purposes.

9. Consent

By providing your phone number through the Kaku app and initiating event coordination, you consent to receive automated text messages from Kaku related to event planning. Consent is not a condition of purchase or use of any other goods or services.

For friends being coordinated with: the initial text message you receive will identify who invited you and what event is being planned. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.

10. Program Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the SMS messaging program at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users of any material changes.
